在日常交流中，我們經常會表達“努力學習”、“努力工作”等話語，那這類表達在英語中是study hardly，work hardly嗎？

首先辨析一下hard 和 hardly 的區別：

hard [ha:d]

adj. 堅硬的，困難的，辛苦的，猛烈的。

adv. 努力地，困難地，辛苦地。

hardly [ha:dli]

adv. 幾乎不，簡直不。

要注意的是 hardly并不是hard的副詞形式。hardly有否定意義，hard既是形容詞，又是副詞。

接下來我們通過例句來解釋：

1. Mr. Wang is living a hard life on his painting.

王先生靠著自己的畫作維系著貧苦的生活。

2. I dont think it is a hard work for you. You are professional.

我覺得這項工作對你來說并不難，你是專家??！

3. The diamond is so hard that it can be cut by only itself.

鉆石的硬度非常高以至于只有鉆石才能切割鉆石。

4. Tim has been working hard since he came in.

Tim自從加入公司以來一直都努力工作。

5. People in this village agree the proposal on the water supply hardly.

鎮上幾乎沒人同意這項關于飲水供應的提議。

“努力”除了上述表達還可以怎么說？

strive

努力、奮斗

1.The sales manager encourages his team to strive for the highest sale by the end of the month.

這位銷售經理鼓勵他的團隊在月底之前努力達成最高的銷售業績。

2.There is nothing difficult if we would strive to achieve it.

如果我們能夠為之努力，那么這個世界上就不會有什么難事了。

endeavor努力、盡力

1.Each year, millions of students are endeavoring seriously for the Entrance Examination to University (Gao kao).

每年都會有成千上萬的學生為高考不懈努力。

2.When he sets a final target, he will take an endeavor to make it.

當他設定一個最終目標的時候，他就會付出努力以達成這個目標。

make effort做出努力

1.The one who makes a great effort can make a great achievement.

那些能做出努力的人才會做出偉大成就。

2.You will succeed if you can make effort.

只要你能做出努力，就能成功。
