Eagle, Chicks, and Hen

老鷹捉小雞

Child: Mom, can we go out and play?寶寶：媽媽，咱們能出去玩嗎？

Mom: Sure! Oh, today Im going to show you a new game called Eagle, Chicks, and Hen. 媽媽：當然！哦，今天我要教你一個新游戲叫老鷹捉小雞。

老鷹捉小雞是咱們中國的游戲，沒有官方英文名，我們選擇了英語母語者比較認可的名稱。不過，很多中國人也把這個游戲傳到了國外，外國小朋友在了解了這個游戲的規則后，也玩得不亦樂乎呢。

Child: Whats that? 寶寶：那是什么？

Mom: Its a fun outdoor activity, similar to tag. 媽媽：它是一個很好玩的戶外游戲，和逮人差不多。

Do you want to learn how to play it?你想學學怎么玩嗎？

Child: Yes! 寶寶：嗯！

Mom: Actually, we need to ask Daddy to join 媽媽：對了，咱們得叫上爸爸，

because we need at least three people for this game.因為這個游戲至少需要三個人。

Child: Daddy!寶寶：爸爸！

Outside 在外面

Mom: Lets go to that area with more space.

媽媽：咱們去那邊，那兒空間大。

We dont want to bump into others when we play.咱們玩的時候別撞到別人。

First round, Daddy can be the eagle,第一局，爸爸可以當老鷹，

Ill be the hen,我當母雞，

and you can be the chick. 你可以當小雞。

Child: How do we play it?寶寶：怎么玩啊？

Mom: The rules are simple. 媽媽：規則很簡單。

Daddy tries to tag you爸爸來抓你，

and Ill stretch out my arms like this to protect you.我會像這樣張開雙臂來保護你。

Child: I see. 寶寶：明白了。

The eagle tags the chicks老鷹捉小雞，

and the hen protects the chicks.母雞保護小雞。

Mom: Exactly!媽媽：完全正確！

You stay behind me 你要呆在我身后，

and put your hands on my waist 把手放在我腰間，

or just hold on to my shirt.或者就抓著我的衣服。

We are going to move very fast - 我們一會兒動作會非常快，

hold on tight!抓緊了！

Are you ready? 準備好了嗎？

Go!

開始！

? Mom spreads arms shoulder high, shielding Child from Dad 媽媽張開雙臂齊肩高，在爸爸面前把寶寶擋住

? Dad tries to go around Mom and moves here and there 爸爸想繞過媽媽，一會兒往這邊跑，一會兒往那邊跑

? Dad fakes a move, goes around Mom, and tags Child 爸爸做了個假動作，繞過了媽媽，抓住了寶寶

Child: Oh, No! He got me! 寶寶：噢不！他把我抓住了！

Mom: Dad was so quick! 媽媽：爸爸太快了！

Now that you are caught,既然你被抓住了，

you will be the eagle the next round.下一輪你來當老鷹吧。

Lets see if you can tag the chick.看看你能不能抓住小雞。

? Child runs after Dad in one direction only and makes Mom and Dad feel dizzy 寶寶追著爸爸一直朝一個方向跑，把爸爸媽媽給繞暈了

Child: Im going to catch you!寶寶：我要抓到你了！

? Dad slows down on purpose and gets caught 爸爸故意放慢腳步，被抓住了

Child: Got you!

寶寶：抓到你了！

Dad, you didnt do very well at escaping.

爸爸，你沒躲好。

Even Mommy couldnt stop me.

媽媽也阻擋不了我。

Mom: Good job!

媽媽：真棒！

You were such a fast eagle.

你這只老鷹可真快啊。

注意這里用過去時，因為說的是剛才發生的情況。下面一句中的was也是一樣。

Child: Sure, I was.

寶寶：那當然。

That was so much fun!真好玩！

Mom: It would be more fun if we had a group of chicks trailing behind the hen. 媽媽：母雞后面跟著一群小雞更好玩。

The eagle might cut off the line

老鷹可能會把隊伍沖散，

and catch several chicks at one time!

一下子抓住好幾只小雞呢！

Child: I can invite those children over there to join us. 寶寶：我可以邀請那邊的小朋友加入咱們。

Mom: Yes, go ahead!媽媽：嗯，去吧！

? Children gather and begin the game 孩子們聚在一起開始玩

Child: I will be the hen.

寶寶：我當母雞。

Stay behind me!
