“yet”是什么意思？應該怎么用？yet another是什么？

今日文章解讀：

A week later, the editor at last received a fax from the journalist. Not only had the poor man been arrested, but he had been sent to prison as well. However, he had at last been allowed to send a fax in which he informed the editor that the he had been arrested while counting the 1,084 steps leading to the fifteen-foot wall which surrounded the presidents palace.

一周之后，編輯終于接到記者的傳真。那個可憐的記者不僅被捕了，而且還被送進了監獄。不過，他終于獲準發回了一份傳真。在傳真中他告訴編輯，就在他數通向15英尺高的總統府圍墻的1084級臺階時，被抓了起來。

（1）not only … but(also) … 不僅…而且…

Not only had the poor man been arrested, but he had been sent to prison as well.

從這個句子中可以看到Not only后使用了倒裝的結構。所以需要注意：

①not only … but (also)用于句首時，需要使用倒裝句

Not only is this student intelligent, but hardworking. 這個學生不僅聰慧而且勤奮。

②not only與but (also)后的成分需要一致

如上面舉的例子，not only 后的intelligent和 but后的hardworking詞性和成分一致。均用于修飾student。

③not only… but also與 as well as的區別

Think of others as well as yourself. 不僅要想到自己，也要想到別人。

當使用as well as時，強調的重點在于前者。在上面例句中，強調的就“他人”。但當使用not only … but also時，則相反。

（2）lead to表示“導致”,“通向”

lead作動詞表示“領導”，同樣可以表示該意思的有：

direct: 指為某人指方向，但自己不一定親自引路，也可表示指導一群人的事或活動。

conduct: 正式用詞，指引導某人去某處，強調親自帶領；也強調監督管理一群有共同目的或目標的人。

guide: 可與conduct換用，指引導者與被引導者雙方彼此合作，共同努力的關系。

pilot: 從原義“為飛機、輪船導航”借喻為指親自帶領某人去某處。

lead: 指走在前面給某人引路或帶路人共同去達到某一目標。用于抽象意義時，指在某項活動或運動中起主導和組織作用。

而在詞組中，lead to含有“領導”的意思，表示“領導著通向…”之意

Diligence is the path leading to happiness. 勤勞是獲得幸福的途徑。

第二個含意是“導致”

Worries and tenseness can lead to insomnia.
憂慮和緊張會導致失眠。
