我們都知道英語發音可以分為英式英語和美式英語兩種，但英國人和美國人在語言上不光是口音不同，在某些單詞上面，兩個國家的人的理解也是大相徑庭，下面我們就來一起認識這些單詞的兩面性吧！

01. Pants

Dont ask a British person about their pants. Youll get a very funny look, and maybe even a slap round the face.

絕對不要和一個英國人討論他/她的pants，因為你極有可能看到一個大寫的尷尬，甚至會有迎面而來的巴掌......

You may ask “why”, because youll be inquiring about their underwear and not their trousers.

你可能會問：“為什么呢？”。因為你可能會被認為你在談論他們的內褲，而不是褲子。

People say it in Britain:"When you get dressed you put your pants on first, then your trousers."

在英國，人們經常這么說：“當你穿衣服的時候，你先穿你的pants，然后才能穿你的褲子。”

02. purse

大家想想什么是purse，而什么又是wallet 呢？

但是在英國camp還有另外一種意思：

Camp is also a very British way of saying something or someone is deliberately exaggerated or theatrical, according to Oxford English dictionary.

其實呢，camp在英國還可以指某一個人刻意夸張地去說一件事或一個人。

People say it in Britain:"He ended every performance with a camp flourish."

人們在英國會這么說：“他以一種華麗的夸張的形式結束了他的表演。”

04. Trainer

想必老師們都跟大家說了英文單詞中-er后綴，一般可以指某個職業的人，但是這個trainer就不是了哦！

If a British starts talking to you about their trainers, theyre not discussing the people who make them sweat at the gym.

Theyre talking about their sneakers. A British might also call a pair of sneakers a pair of"pumps."

So，如果英國佬在和你說trainers，人家不是說虐了他/她千百遍的教練，而是說他的運動鞋呢！

People say it in Britain:"Im going for a run tonight, so Ive packed my trainers."

人們在英國這么說：“我今天晚上要去跑步，所以我裝上了我的運動鞋。”

05. Boot

說到boot，大家肯定想的是靴子~在英國不是哦！

In America, a boot is a type of footwear. In the UK, the boot refers to the trunk of a car.

Thus，這里的boot指的車的后備箱。

上面提到的這些單詞，大家以后在聊天的時候可要注意了，如果有些單詞我們弄不清楚意思，要注意前后的語境和對方的回應，這樣才不會鬧出笑話哦~
