“我應(yīng)該怎么樣寫我的個人陳述開頭呢？” – 很多學(xué)生都想寫出一份能夠秒殺其他人的個人陳述（personal statement），而怎么寫好一個開頭往往都是大部分學(xué)生會面臨的第一個也是最常見的問題。

怎么樣去開始構(gòu)思我們的個人陳述開頭呢？

首先，千萬不要試圖想著在開始就能夠?qū)懗鰜硪粋€非常驚艷的開頭。這樣會導(dǎo)致想的過多，寫出來的東西太花里胡哨了。正如UCL中一名招生倒是說過“PS的開頭要簡潔，要吸引讀者，但不要過于花哨。”

招生導(dǎo)師們經(jīng)常都會提到這一點。根據(jù)我們跟多位招生導(dǎo)師的溝通，他們會更加強調(diào)希望看到申請人自己的想法，而不是一堆“華麗的辭藻”。

小璽Tips

我們約談了接近百位，不同學(xué)校的招生導(dǎo)師來了解他們更希望看到的是一份怎么樣的personal statement。接下來是小璽給大家歸納的專家的建議：

• Dont waste time trying to think of a catchy opening; its often a complete turn-off.
• Your interest in the course is the biggest thing. Start with why you chose it.
• The best personal statements get to the point quickly.
• Start with a short sentence that captures the reason why you are interested in studying the area you are applying for and that communicates your enthusiasm for it.
• Go straight in. Why are you excited about studying this course?
• The opening is your chance to introduce yourself, to explain your motivation for studying the course and to demonstrate your understanding of it.
• Its your enthusiasm for the course we want to know about. Start with that.
• Write what comes naturally.
• What you want to study and why should be in the first two sentences. What excites you about the course and why do you want to learn about it more?
• Be specific from line one.
• Talk about you and your enthusiasm for the subject from the very start.
• In your opening paragraph you need to show that you know what you are applying for. Dont waffle or say you want to study something just because its interesting. Explain what you find interesting about it.
• Its much better to engage us with something interesting, relevant, specific and current in your opening line, not from a young age or I have always wanted to. Start with whats inspiring you now, not what inspired you when you were six.

也有專家提議：也可以先寫完P(guān)S的內(nèi)容，最后一步再寫開頭。

• I think the opening line is the hardest one to write, so I often say leave it until last and just try and get something down on paper.
• Dont spend too long on the introduction. Concentrate on the main content of your statement and write the introduction last.
• I often advise applicants to start with paragraph two, where you get into why you want to study the course. Thats what were really interested in.

最好的personal statement往往從一開始就顯得真實且具體。因此，在personal statement中多寫寫對這一專業(yè)或者課程的熱情、對這一專業(yè)的理解以及你想從中獲得什么。

說完建議，咱來說說該避免的事情。

在我們跟招生導(dǎo)師們的聊天中，我們發(fā)現(xiàn)有一類的開頭都比較不受招生導(dǎo)師們的喜歡，甚至有一部分導(dǎo)師看到這些就感覺煩。

是什么呢？這里給大家列出來

• From a young age…
• For as long as I can remember…
• I am applying for this course because…
• I have always been interested in…
• Throughout my life I have always enjoyed…

UCAS每年都會發(fā)布一份個人陳述中最常見的開場白清單，這些都是往年最多人使用的開頭前五名！據(jù)USCA的統(tǒng)計，大約60%的personal statement都是這些開頭......

想想招生導(dǎo)師們每一年都需要看從全世界各地收集到的成千上萬份personal statement。每天都會看到這些重復(fù)的開頭（是個人都會煩）所以，這五個常見的personal statement開頭千萬不要再用啦。

還有一類，是什么呢？引用別人的話！

據(jù)我們的統(tǒng)計，開頭就直接使用引文幾乎是導(dǎo)師們最討厭的一點。特別是那些引用了名人名言之后還不解釋為什么要引用的，更是會直接讓導(dǎo)師厭惡。

記住，導(dǎo)師們想看到的是你的話；想知道的是你的想法，而不是別人的話。

最后，小璽推薦大家一種寫作方法——“necklace approach”。說人話就是“首尾呼應(yīng)”。就是在PS的開頭跟結(jié)尾之間建立聯(lián)系的時候，在結(jié)尾處額外再添加一個維度。舉個例子，在PS的開頭處，我們可以寫是什么原因讓你喜歡上這一個專業(yè)的；在結(jié)尾處，我們除了可以呼應(yīng)開頭寫一下為什么你會喜歡這一專業(yè)，還能額外在此基礎(chǔ)上添加一個維度，比如我們可以再寫一些你希望在大學(xué)中進(jìn)一步學(xué)習(xí)到這一方面的什么內(nèi)容。以此來增加開頭和結(jié)尾的聯(lián)系感。
