Yang Li謝謝 Ben。他提出的三個詞分別是 painting、drawing 和picture。Ben 在問題里說，他知道這幾個詞都和藝術(shù)創(chuàng)作有關(guān)，但是不太清楚這三個詞的區(qū)別究竟是什么。他的理解對，但不完全對。因為painting、drawing 和 picture 雖然都可以是描述風(fēng)景、人物或靜物的一種藝術(shù)形式, 但是它們的含義并不完全局限于藝術(shù)創(chuàng)作這一范疇。比如，以第一個詞 painting 為例，除了指畫作，繪畫之外它也可以指刷漿和噴漆。請聽例句：

Look at this lovely Christmas present he bought me, a large oil painting of my hometown.

看他給我買的圣誕禮物多好：是一張描寫我家鄉(xiāng)的大幅油畫。

My sister has taken up painting as her new hobby.

I like everything except the paint in this room, I think the colour is a bit too dark.

此處 paint是名詞，指墻上刷的粉或漆。不過這個詞也可以作動詞，比如，Im painting my bedroom. 我正在粉刷我的臥室。

第二個詞 drawing 可以作名詞，一般指素描，或用鉛筆、粉筆繪制的草圖。不過大家一定要知道，這個詞的動詞是 to draw，出現(xiàn)的頻率很高。比如，畫張圖就可以用 to draw a picture 來表達(dá)。請聽例句。

A: You are pretty good at drawing, arent you?

你素描不錯吧？

B: Not bad. Why?

還可以吧。怎么有事嗎？

A: I need someone to draw a few logos that I can send to my publishers.

David loves drawing trains. This is his latest drawing of a steam engine.

Examples

Please keep me in the picture. I want to know what wedding presents to buy them.

請什么進(jìn)展都請告訴我一聲，我好決定給他們買什么結(jié)婚禮物。

I haven’t been invited to the party: I guess Im not in the picture anymore.

我沒有被邀請去參加聚會，看來我已經(jīng)不再是圈兒內(nèi)人了。

剛才第一個例句里的 to keep someone in the picture 意思讓一個人了解知悉情況。第二句里的 not in the picture any more 表示不再是圈兒內(nèi)人了。
