英語(yǔ)狀語(yǔ)雖然不是句子的主干成分，但其位置靈活，所表達(dá)的關(guān)系復(fù)雜，能做狀語(yǔ)的結(jié)構(gòu)較多，狀語(yǔ)是學(xué)生比較難以把握的句子成分之一。狀語(yǔ)可以修飾句子中的動(dòng)詞、形容詞、副詞乃至修飾整個(gè)句子，狀語(yǔ)表明事物發(fā)展的態(tài)勢(shì)與事物間的邏輯關(guān)系，可以由副詞、非限定動(dòng)詞、短語(yǔ)或從句來(lái)充當(dāng)。根據(jù)不同的結(jié)構(gòu)做狀語(yǔ)和狀語(yǔ)的態(tài)勢(shì)與邏輯關(guān)系分說(shuō)如下：

一、副詞作狀語(yǔ):

１、修飾動(dòng)詞

He tried to solve the problem, but he (quickly) gave up.

The government is trying to find a way to deal with the problem of pollution (effectively).

２、修飾形容詞

Your kid is old (enough) to go to school.

The mountain covered with colorful leaves is (very) beautiful.

When you visit a (totally) different place the first time, the new food, habits and language might make you want to run all the way back.

３、修飾副詞

Sound travels much faster than an airplane but light travels (even) faster than sound.

二、非限定動(dòng)詞（短語(yǔ)）做狀語(yǔ)：非限定動(dòng)詞做狀語(yǔ)邏輯主語(yǔ)一般為句子主語(yǔ)

Finding the course very difficult, she decided to move to a lower level. (現(xiàn)在分詞做原因狀語(yǔ))

I stopped the car to take a short break as I was feeling tired.(不定式做目的狀語(yǔ))

When I was little, my mother used to sit by my bed, telling me stories till I fell asleep.(現(xiàn)在分詞做伴隨狀語(yǔ))

Offered an important role in a new movie, Andy has a chance to become famous.(過(guò)去分詞做原因狀語(yǔ))

More highways have been built in China, making it much easier for people to travel form one place to another. （現(xiàn)在分詞做結(jié)果狀語(yǔ)）

三、介詞短語(yǔ)做狀語(yǔ)

With time going by, the boy has grown into a strong man. (時(shí)間狀語(yǔ))

He rent a house by the year.（方式狀語(yǔ)）

A serious study of physics is impossible without some knowledge of mathematics.（條件狀語(yǔ)）

This village is well-known for its beautiful sights.（原因狀語(yǔ)）

He suddenly returned on a rainy night.(時(shí)間狀語(yǔ))

四、句子做狀語(yǔ)（狀語(yǔ)從句）

狀語(yǔ)從句是用來(lái)做主句的狀語(yǔ)，表明主句與從句之間的邏輯關(guān)系的一種從屬?gòu)?fù)合句。狀語(yǔ)從句的難點(diǎn)是狀語(yǔ)從句類別繁多，關(guān)系復(fù)雜，在同一類型的狀語(yǔ)從句中可以有多個(gè)連接詞。狀語(yǔ)從句的分類與含義如下表：
