1. cloth是不可數名詞，“布料”，但作“桌布”講時，是可數名詞。

a table cloth一張桌布

a dish cloth一張餐巾

2. clothes只用復數，指具體的衣服。包括外套、西裝、襯衣、褲子、鞋、帽等。它不能和表示具體數目的數詞連用。不能說 a clothes， six clothes可以說many（ these，a few, my, an article of, a suit of)clothes。

3. clothing是集體名詞，指衣服、服裝的總稱，不能用復數，表示泛指。

The shop sells childrens clothing especially.

這家商店專賣兒童服裝。

4. dress作可數名詞時，指婦女穿的“裙子”。作不可數名詞時與 clothing同義，指“服裝、衣服”。
