歌詞取材于《以賽亞書》第6章第1節(jié)至第5節(jié)，是雷金納德?赫伯（Reginald Heber）為圣三一主日而作，著重闡述基督教“三位一體”神論的要義。約翰?巴克斯?戴克斯（John Bacchus Dykes）于1861年依詞作曲。在1953年版的《泰坦尼克號(hào)》中出現(xiàn)了這首贊美詩(shī)。
