There are many expressions in English that express being fired.

有很多英語說法 都可以用來表達解雇的意思

Of course when youre fired from a job,

當然了 當你被炒了魷魚

thats a terrible thing because you lost your job,

丟了工作 這是件非常糟糕的事

and as I said there are lots of expressions to express being fired.

Lets take a look.

Now Im gonna use the sentence he was...

我們從這個句子開始學起

of course, it could work for men he or women she, he was...she was...

當然了 這里只是用he舉例 用she也是可以的

He was fired.

他被炒魷魚了

All right, thats the most common way to express being fired.

這是最常見的一種說法

He was fired, but there are some other ones.

但還有其他表達解雇的說法

And this is the first group.

這是第一組

There will be a second group later.

等會還會有第二組

Lets take a look.

He was laid off.

他被解雇了

Okay now, fired is probably your fault, the employee fault,

用fired來表解雇的話 可能是你犯錯了 也就是員工犯錯

but if youre laid off, thats the company fault.

但如果是用laid off的話 通常就是公司出問題了

The company has some financial difficulties, so they have to layoff many workers.

公司遇到財政問題了 所以需要裁員

He was dismissed.

他被解雇了

This is kind of a polite way to say hes fired.

這種表達他人被解雇的一種較禮貌的說法

He was let go.

他被解雇了

Fired is a very terrible word, he was fired.

fired是一個讓人感覺到非常不舒服的詞

He was let go means the same thing,

let go同樣也是表達解雇

but its not as powerful,

但它沒有fired那么強有力（畢竟解雇不是什么好事）

so its a little...a little nicer to say he was let go.

所以用let go來表達會顯得更加友好一點

He was released.

他被解雇了

Again, kind of a more polite way to say he was fired.

And last one, he was terminated.

最后一個 He was terminated

This is actually very strong, terminated, cut, he was terminated.

Heres the second group of expressions, remember they all mean the same thing to be fired.

Again, it just means fired.

He was canned.

He was axed.

Now an axe is like an axe to cut a tree, so he was axed, similar he was cut.

Now the last two idioms also very common.

最后兩個俚語同樣很常見

He was given the boot.

so he was kicked out of the company.

很形象的說明他被公司給"踢"出去了

And he was given the pink slip.

they were given a form to say youre fired,
