Riding a Scooter

騎滑板車

Mom: Its such a great day – perfect for being outside.

媽媽：今天天氣真好——非常適合戶外活動。

Let me show you how to ride the scooter.

我來教你怎么騎滑板車。

Child: Cool.

寶寶：太好了。

? Outside 在戶外

Mom: Do what I do.

媽媽：跟著我做。

Hold on to the handles,

雙手握住把，

put one foot onto the deck,

一只腳放在踏板上，

and use the other foot to kick or push off from the ground.

另一只腳蹬地。

Use your foot and leg together so its a strong push.

腳和腿一起用力，這樣力量才大。

When you gain enough speed, you can put both feet on the deck, one behind the other.

起了足夠的速度以后，你可以把兩只腳都放在踏板上，一前一后。

寶寶：像這樣嗎？

Mom: Yes, exactly like that.

媽媽：是的，就是這樣。

To be safe, you can put one foot on the deck and the other next to the brake.

安全起見，你可以一只腳放在踏板上，另一只放在剎車旁邊。

That way you can be ready to use it when you need to stop.

這樣你就可以隨時準備好停車了。

Child: Where is the brake?

寶寶：剎車在哪里啊？

Mom: Good question.

Its the raised part over the wheel on the back.

If you want to stop, use your foot to step on it.

Child: Got it.

Mom: Dont worry, just look ahead.

Dont look down.

Child: How do I change directions?

I dont want to go straight all the time.

Mom: If you lean to the left, the scooter will go left.

媽媽：如果你身體向左傾斜，滑板車就會向左走。

Lean if you just want a little bit of a turn,

如果你想微調方向，就傾斜身體，

but if you need to make a sharp turn, turn the handle, which will turn the wheel.

但是如果你需要急轉彎，就拐把，這樣輪子也會跟著轉的。

Turn the handle to the right.

向右拐把。

We want to turn right.

我們右轉。

Child: I think Im going too slow.

Mom: Yes, lets catch up with them and have a race now that you know how to ride the scooter.

Child: Hello, guys! Im here and ready to race!

寶寶：大家好！我在這兒呢，我可以比賽了！
